A partnership between residents of Great Island and Sam R. Telford, ScD, MS, BA Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine to learn more about the tick populations on the island.
In 1981, Great Island was the subject of a study to remediate ticks by reducing the deer population on the island. The study met its overall objectives and was completed in 1994. Although the study was successful, ticks remain on Great Island.
This project will inform us about new species of ticks that may be on the island and identify areas on the island where they may be in abundance.
