Marissa is a Licensed Master Social Worker and has been working in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis since 2018. After completing her Masters in Social Work, she took an interest in ABA therapy and decided to pursue a career in the field. She first gained her experience working throughout Manhattan and has since branched out to Long Island, NY providing in home Special Education and ABA therapy services. In 2022, Marissa graduated from St. Joseph's University and was working towards her LBA/BCBA certification when her career took a pivotal turn. In September of 2023, after battling 3 years with undiagnosed symptoms, Marissa was finally diagnosed with late stage Lyme Disease, Babesia, Bartonella, Anaplasma, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, & other pathogens. While navigating the diagnosis and having 50+ symptoms that left her bedridden, Marissa was determined to seek support. Through the power of the Lyme Reddit community and aiding in the formation of the “Lymitless” Support Group, Marissa was able to begin her Lyme journey and is currently on the road to recovery. Currently, Marissa is a Global Lyme Alliance Ambassador. Her hope is to one day share her success story of the power of self-advocacy, perseverance, and strength it takes to overcome this disease as well as advocating for change in the legislation revolving Lyme Disease. As she believes Lyme diagnosis and treatment should be much easier to obtain and affordable for all.
