Dear Friends & Supporters,
Your financial support TODAY is urgently needed.
I am reaching out at a pivotal moment that may determine the future of Lyme disease research for years to come.
Thanks to your generosity, we have made meaningful advances in diagnostics, basic science, and clinical understanding of Lyme disease in recent years. For the first time, funding for Lyme research had begun to grow toward truly impactful levels. This progress is the result of years of persistence and hard-won momentum.
Now, that momentum is in jeopardy.
Sweeping cuts to biomedical research are already underway. Lyme-focused projects, which only recently began receiving meaningful attention, are now at high risk of being deprioritized or eliminated. Without immediate and sustained community support, we could lose the gains we have worked so hard to achieve.
If funding is cut, the consequences will be profound:
- Vital studies will be delayed or halted, including those aimed at improving diagnostics, advancing treatments, and understanding the mechanisms of persistent symptoms.
- The loss of promising young scientists, along with reduced support for established investigators, would weaken the entire Lyme research pipeline for years to come.
- Patients will wait longer for accurate diagnoses and effective treatments, prolonging suffering and increasing the risk of long-term complications.
We cannot allow this to happen. Not when the threat is expanding. Not when we are making real progress.
The urgency is real. Shifts in climate and ecosystems are driving Lyme disease into new regions, making even more communities susceptible to this growing threat. The need for research has never been greater.
We stand at a crossroads. If we act now, we can protect the progress we have made and accelerate toward better diagnostics, treatments, and prevention. If we wait, we risk setting Lyme research back for a generation.
If you would like to learn more about how GLA is transforming the Lyme research landscape, including our vision, priorities, and plans for the future, I would be glad to speak with you. As Chief Scientific Officer, I welcome the opportunity to connect with anyone interested in the critical work we support and how we can continue advancing research that matters most to patients.
You hold the key to the future of this work. Please make the most generous gift you can today to help GLA safeguard and advance the fight against Lyme disease.
With gratitude,
