On December 15th, GLA will participate in the HHS National Lyme Disease Roundtable to discuss advancing care and policy for Lyme disease and related chronic conditions.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) will convene a national Lyme disease roundtable on December 15, bringing together federal leaders, members of Congress, clinicians, researchers, innovators, and patient advocates for a public discussion on the future of Lyme disease care and policy. Global Lyme Alliance (GLA) will be represented at the roundtable, with our Chief Scientific Officer in attendance to offer research integrity and patient perspectives central to the conversation.

HHS will host Invisible Illness: Leading the Way with Lyme Disease from 2:00–4:30 PM ET (11:00 AM–1:30 PM PT), livestreamed to the public via the HHS YouTube channel. HHS YouTube channel.

The roundtable will be convened by HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., alongside senior HHS leadership, signaling increased federal engagement around Lyme disease and related chronic conditions that continue to impact millions of patients nationwide.

According to HHS, the discussion will focus on several key areas, including:

  • Improving early detection of Lyme disease

  • Advancing coordinated, multidisciplinary care

  • Exploring next-generation diagnostic tools

  • Clarifying federal priorities for Lyme disease and associated chronic illnesses

Organizers have emphasized the importance of scientific rigor, transparency in decision-making, and meaningful patient participation, an acknowledgment of the lived experience of those affected by Lyme disease and the need for solutions informed by both research and real-world impact.

GLA’s participation reflects our long-standing commitment to advancing credible science, supporting innovative research, and elevating the patient voice at every level of decision-making. As the only Lyme-focused nonprofit with a dedicated internal science team, GLA works to bridge the gap between researchers, clinicians, policymakers, and the patient community, ensuring that conversations like this translate into measurable progress.

This roundtable represents an important moment in national Lyme disease dialogue and underscores the growing recognition that addressing Lyme disease requires collaboration across medicine, public health, government, and patient advocacy.
