May 18, 2026 -- Global Lyme Alliance (GLA), the leading nonprofit dedicated to combatting Lyme disease through research, awareness, and patient support, is pleased to announce the opening of its 2026 research grant cycle. GLA prioritizes research that accelerates the development of innovative diagnostics, elucidates disease mechanisms, and advances novel treatment strategies for Lyme and other tick-borne diseases. A particular emphasis is placed on understanding and addressing post-treatment and chronic manifestations of Lyme disease.

This year, GLA is introducing two funding mechanisms to support investigators at different stages of research and career development: a Research Grant and an Early Career Research Grant.

“GLA is proud to continue its longstanding Research Grant program while introducing the new Early Career Research Grant this year,” said Armin Alaedini, PhD, Chief Scientific Officer. “The launch of the Early Career Research Grant reflects our commitment not only to supporting innovative science today, but also to cultivating the next generation of investigators who will shape the future of Lyme and other tick-borne disease research with bold new ideas and fresh perspectives. At a time when sustained investment in scientific research remains critically important, GLA is committed to ensuring continued momentum toward advances that can improve diagnosis, treatment, and outcomes for patients.”
